2022, Cell ReportsCitation Excerpt :NP1-Gal4 has been described previously (Jiang et al., 2009), and was kindly gifted by Dr. Bruce Edgar. Flp-out technique was used to generate knockdown or overexpression clones (Pignoni and Zipursky, 1997; Struhl and Basler, 1993). See Table S2 for Drosophila genotypes used for clonal analysis in this study.
The T-box gene optomotor-blind organizes proximodistal leg patterning in the beetle Tribolium castaneum by repressing dorsal Dpp pathway activity
2022, Developmental BiologyCitation Excerpt :This activates the hedgehog (hh) gene in all posterior leg disc cells and the Hh protein then emanates to cells in the directly adjacent anterior part of the leg disc. These anterior cells react differently to the arriving Hh protein, depending on their location: dorsal cells activate expression of decapentaplegic (dpp), whereas ventral cells activate the wingless (wg) gene (Basler and Struhl, 1994; Campbell et al., 1993; Struhl and Basler, 1993; Jiang and Struhl, 1996; Theisen et al., 1996). Wg and Dpp protein then organise the dorsoventral and proximodistal leg axes by activating a number of downstream targets.
