Mechanistic aspects of maltotriose-conjugate translocation to the Gram-negative bacteria cytoplasm

Estelle Dumont, Julia Vergalli, Jelena Pajovic, Satya P Bhamidimarri, Koldo Morante, Jiajun Wang, Dmitrijs Lubriks, Edgars Suna, Robert A Stavenger, Mathias Winterhalter, Matthieu Réfrégiers, Jean-Marie Pagès

    Estelle Dumont ... Jean-Marie Pagès

    Published 28 December 2018

A maltotriose-conjugate can deliver molecules into the cytoplasmic space of Gram-negative bacteria by parasitizing the maltose uptake pathway.

Optimized ChIP-seq method facilitates transcription factor profiling in human tumors

Abhishek A Singh, Karianne Schuurman, Ekaterina Nevedomskaya, Suzan Stelloo, Simon Linder, Marjolein Droog, Yongsoo Kim, Joyce Sanders, Henk van der Poel, Andries M Bergman, Lodewyk FA Wessels, Wilbert Zwart

Abhishek A Singh ... Wilbert Zwart

    Published 28 December 2018

This study presents an optimized ChIP-seq protocol to enhance transcription factor profiling in human tumours, enabling the analysis of highly challenging samples, including core needle biopsies.

Polycomb and Notch signaling regulate cell proliferation potential during Caenorhabditis elegans life cycle

Francesca Coraggio, Ringo Püschel, Alisha Marti, Peter Meister

    Francesca Coraggio ... Peter Meister

    Published 26 December 2018

Caenorhabditis elegans lineage is invariant between animals. By challenging cell fate in differentiated worms, an unexpected role of Polycomb and Notch signaling in the control of cell proliferation was uncovered, suggesting that the lineage is more flexible than believed.

A C/EBPα–Wnt connection in gut homeostasis and carcinogenesis

Julian Heuberger, Undine Hill, Susann Förster, Karin Zimmermann, Victoria Malchin, Anja A Kühl, Ulrike Stein, Michael Vieth, Walter Birchmeier, Achim Leutz

    Julian Heuberger ... Achim Leutz

    Published 26 December 2018

This research reveals an antagonism between C/EBPα expression and activated Wnt signaling in the human and mouse gut and suggests a tumor suppressor function of C/EBPα in human and murine intestinal cancer.

    Re-annotation of eight Drosophila genomes

Haiwang Yang, Maria Jaime, Maxi Polihronakis, Kelvin Kanegawa, Therese Markow, Kenneth Kaneshiro, Brian Oliver

    Haiwang Yang ... Brian Oliver

    Published 24 December 2018

Using a well-annotated genome to inform the annotation of genomes in a phylogeny.

  • Absence of MHC-II expression by lymph node stromal cells results in autoimmunity

Absence of MHC-II expression by lymph node stromal cells results in autoimmunity

Juan Dubrot, Fernanda V Duraes, Guillaume Harlé, Anjalie Schlaeppi, Dale Brighouse, Natacha Madelon, Christine Göpfert, Nadine Stokar-Regenscheit, Hans Acha-Orbea, Walter Reith, Monique Gannagé, Stephanie Hugues

    Juan Dubrot ... Stephanie Hugues

    Published 17 December 2018

MHCII-restricted antigen presentation by lymph node stromal cells is essential for regulatory T-cell proliferation and functions, and for the regulation of autoimmunity.

  • Variants of DNMT3A cause transcript-specific DNA methylation patterns and affect hematopoiesis

Variants of DNMT3A cause transcript-specific DNA methylation patterns and affect hematopoiesis

Tanja Božić, Joana Frobel, Annamarija Raic, Fabio Ticconi, Chao-Chung Kuo, Stefanie Heilmann-Heimbach, Tamme W Goecke, Martin Zenke, Edgar Jost, Ivan G Costa, Wolfgang Wagner

    Tanja Božić ... Wolfgang Wagner

    Published 13 December 2018

Modulation of DNMT3A splice variants causes transcript-specific DNA methylation and gene expression changes and affects differentiation. Particularly, transcript 2 is relevant in acute myeloid leukemia.

A role for MED14 and UVH6 in heterochromatin transcription upon destabilization of silencing

Pierre Bourguet, Stève de Bossoreille, Leticia López-González, Marie-Noëlle Pouch-Pélissier, Ángeles Gómez-Zambrano, Anthony Devert, Thierry Pélissier, Romain Pogorelcnik, Isabelle Vaillant, Olivier Mathieu

    Pierre Bourguet ... Olivier Mathieu

    Published 12 December 2018

The TFIIH component UVH6 and the mediator subunit MED14 are differentially required for the release of heterochromatin silencing, and MED14 regulates non-CG DNA methylation in Arabidopsis.

Mouse REC114 is essential for meiotic DNA double-strand break formation and forms a complex with MEI4

Rajeev Kumar, Cecilia Oliver, Christine Brun, Ariadna B Juarez-Martinez, Yara Tarabay, Jan Kadlec, Bernard de Massy

Rajeev Kumar ... Bernard de Massy

    Published 10 December 2018

Mouse REC114 is essential for meiotic DNA double-strand break formation and forms a complex with IHO1. Its N-terminal region forms a Pleckstrin homology domain, while its C-terminal region is interacting with MEI4.
