In the Xenopus tadpole brain, cc2d1a expression is confined to the transition zone of the diencephalon and mesencephalon, encapsulating the cerebral aqueduct. This spatial distribution suggests its role in early brain development, specifically in regulating regional cilia-driven cerebrospinal fluid circulation.
