*he 'trick' would be knowing which half*.This **FREE**, informative and entertaining slide-show presentation by the mathematics researcher and historian Jonathan Crabtree, busts many myths that make much of maths hard to understand.

After decades of research, Jonathan reveals the names of the men who mangled maths along with when why and how western mathematics education came to be filled with mis-truths, contradictions and inconsistencies.

So, regardless of whether you struggled with maths, are a parent, or a teacher, or even a maths education professor, you will walk away with new and simple explanations of mathematics that will empower you (and children you know) as never before.

*Feedback from Ben, a primary school teacher, age 26 from the UK*

**What are your thoughts ****on your seminar? **

The seminar was fascinating. As a primary teacher, it was remarkable to discuss the disparity between what we teach children and the reality.

**The best thing was... **

Jonathan himself. He was able to take a topic with the potential to be dry and engage the attendees. By using the myth/math questions and anecdotes, the seminar was easy to follow which made the facts relatable.

**What was the most surprising thing you learned?**

The origin of the numeral 0 and the fact that it hasn’t always had a place in our western number system.

**How did these ideas compare to the explanations you were taught in school?**

Completely different! Especially the use of number lines and the question of which number is greater when we compare negative and positive numbers!

**Any other comments? **

Thank you so much for an interesting and fully engaging seminar. I’ll definitely be discussing your research with my teaching colleagues back in the UK!!
